Pacific Aotearoa

Pacific Aotearoa

Our story as Pacific peoples in Aotearoa is ever evolving.

The waves of migration laid a foundation for our Pacific story and now more than 60 per cent of our Pacific population are born in New Zealand.

We will continue to engage with Pacific communities that reflect where we have come from, what we are doing now and where we want to be in the future.

We know a prosperous journey can only be realised with the blessing and collective support of our community, and you are encouraged to get behind our shared vision for Pacific Aotearoa.

Pacific Aotearoa is about empowering Pacific communities to be at the decision-making table, driving and leading innovative solutions.

Our Pacific Aotearoa Lalanga Fou report lays a strong foundation we can build upon for generations to come with 4 goals:

  1. Thriving Pacific languages, cultures and identities.
  2. Prosperous Pacific communities.
  3. Resilient and healthy Pacific Peoples.
  4. Confident, thriving and resilient Pacific young people.

It is the start of a conversation to better understand Pacific people’s contribution to New Zealand’s economy, how we can close the gaps of existing inequalities and how we define Pacific success, prosperity and well-being.
