Established in 2015, the Toloa Community Fund has been set up to support organisations/community groups to promote and deliver STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) activities to Pacific young people, through engaging key Pacific influencer groups including parents, families and community leaders.

Applications for the Toloa Community Fund 2020 are now open. We're inviting all organisations that work with Pacific communities to apply for funding to deliver STEM related activities.

What can I apply for?

There are two funding options available - these are outlined below along with some examples of projects (but not limited to) that fall within each option:

OPTION ONE: Up to the value of $5,000 - click here to apply

One-off event/workshop delivering a STEM programme at an introductory level to a minimum of 50 people. Some examples are:

  • Expo
  • Exploratory day
  • Fono

OPTION TWO: Up to the value of $20,000 - click here to apply

A comprehensive programme delivered over a period of time (up to 6 - 8 weeks) with a high number of expectancy of participants. Some examples are:

  • Learn how to co-design, code and develop a virtual game application

  • Learn how to become content creators and develop a digital book

What's not included in the funding? 

The following won't be considered as part of the funding:

  • Resources (FTE's)
  • Travel costs (flights, accommodation)
  • New assets (equipment e.g. new laptop to deliver services)

What are you looking for?

We are looking for initiatives or activities that is creative, innovative, have high impact and will lift STEM aspirations amongst our Pacific communities.

We would like to see existing small-scale initiatives to scale up their activities to deliver STEM initiatives to a greater number of people, to enable participants to develop a more in-depth and greater understanding of STEM.

We are also encouraging existing initiatives to focus on one component of STEM.

What supporting documents do I need to apply for the Toloa Community Fund?

  1. Certificate of organisation status
  2. Project budget outline (will need to include proposed expenditure and proposed income)
  3. Pre-printed bank deposit slip (or similar)

What are the key dates for applications?

Applications open on Monday 11 November and close at 12pm-noon on Monday 2 December 2019.

Expectations

All projects and activities including accountability reports are expected to be delivered by no later than June 2020.
