Planning events has become a platform where Rima Tuake-Wood’s creativity is at the fore, and she can put her talents to best use.

Knowing events are an area she would thrive in, Rima set out to make her passion a career and start her own business, with the help of Tupu Aotearoa Service Provider, InWork.

Of Rarotongan and Māori (Ngāti Kahu and Ngāpuhi) descent, Rima was born and raised in Auckland and has spent a lot of time abroad, soaking up various cultures.

Rima’s dream of creating an event styling business started to become a reality when she helped her sister plan her baby shower.

“I organised the event but found the most enjoyable part of the event was the theming and styling the baby shower,” Rima explains.

“I have always been creative and have enjoyed the fusion of ideas and concepts.”

Shortly after this event, a friend asked Rima to plan her son’s fifth birthday party – she agreed and helped theme and style the party, and she has never looked back.

Complete Collaborations Ltd was born, and Rima has recruited her sisters to help at the business.

“We have been growing exponentially and our brand continues to be recognised as a company that delivers, innovative, creative and on-time events.”

Complete Collaborations has established strong strategic collaborations with other event suppliers, which has resulted in consistent referrals and recommendations to their customers to use Complete Collaborations’ services.

Rima says the business has diversified to hiring some products, in instances where customers want single items to enhance their event.

“No matter the size of the event, whether we provide a number of discreet hireage items or style and theme the entire event, our small team is dedicated to providing the best service and experience for our customers.”

Prior to starting her business, Rima says InWork supported her, to find employment through the Tupu Aotearoa programme, and when she decided to start Complete Collaborations, the Service Provider was on-hand to support Rima and her venture.

“I am so grateful for the support InWork and Charyl Wood has provided, throughout my job-hunting years and more recently growing and supporting my business.

“The equipment and tools provided by InWork and Charyl has meant I am able to work more efficiently, and it has increased my productivity while enabling me to produce high end, beautiful results and events for our customers.

“I have had more time to invest in growing our business and brand and have develop policies that have improved the quality systems within our operation.”

Excited about the future, Rima says she is looking forward to continuing to collaborate with our current and new customers to create unforgettable, beautiful events.”
