Removal of the COVID-19 Protection Framework
On 11:59pm on 12 September 2022, the COVID-19 Protection Framework was removed. It’s now safe to move on from the traffic light system. From now on we just need to isolate for 7 days if positive, and wear a mask when visiting health and aged care places.
What was the Protection Framework?
New Zealand moved to the COVID-19 Protection Framework, also known as the traffic lights, on 3 December 2021. This new approach to COVID-19 introduced more freedoms for vaccinated New Zealanders.
