Toloa Scholarships

The Ministry established the Toloa Scholarships in 2015 with the purpose of encouraging more Pacific students to pursue studies in STEM subjects, Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics at tertiary level.

Funded by the Ministry, the four Toloa Scholarships are worth a total of $25,000 each and offer financial support, mentoring and an industry internship to the successful recipients.

The Toloa (Tongan for the Southern Cross Constellation) guided ancient mariners and their vaka across the Pacific Ocean over thousands of years.  The Toloa Scholarships aim to guide and give Pacific STEM students the support needed through their tertiary education journey, with the aim of becoming global problem solvers of the future.
