To be eligible for a Toloa Tertiary Scholarship, applicants must:
- Be of Pacific Island descent
- Be a citizen or permanent resident of New Zealand
- Have achieved NCEA Level 3 with Excellence or Merit passes in STEM subjects relevant to the proposed degree course
- Have enrolled, or intend to enrol, in a full time undergraduate or postgraduate degree course, majoring in STEM subjects, at an approved NZQA accredited tertiary provider in New Zealand for the 2018 academic year.

What is Pacific Island descent?
Pacific applicants are defined as citizens or permanent residents of New Zealand who are of indigenous Pacific descent from any of the following islands: Samoa, American Samoa, Tonga, Cook Islands, Niue, Tokelau, Fiji, Rotuma, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, New Caledonia, Papua New Guinea, Kiribati, Tuvalu, Palau, Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Wallis and Futuna, Hawaii, French Polynesia, Rapanui (Easter Island).
How do I provide proof?
Applicants will need to provide evidence of Pacific descent by attaching a copy of a current passport or birth certificate to this application.
