Ministry supports Get Ready Week
Get Ready Week starts on Monday 9 October and this year's theme is Stay Safe, Stay Informed.
Get Ready Week is held every year to mark the International Day for Natural Disaster Reduction (13 October) and encourage Kiwis to get prepared.
During the week, the Ministry of Civil Defence & Emergency Management will be promoting the different ways people can stay informed during an emergency; which radio stations to listen to, which websites and social media to follow, the importance of getting to know your neighbours and checking to see if you can receive Emergency Mobile Alerts.
There are plenty of resources, along with a handy guide, to help you get involved with the campaign and promote preparedness (during Get Ready Week and beyond) to your families and communities.
Get Ready Week is an opportunity for families and communities to focus on public education and preparedness activities.
Get Ready Week runs from 9-15 October.
