Ministry delivers strategic intentions
The Ministry for Pacific Peoples has released its Strategic Intentions document for 2017-2020.
The Strategic Intentions document is a high-level document, (formerly the Statement of Intent) which provides strategic direction and operating intentions, transparent to Parliament and the New Zealand public, about the Ministry’s purpose and delivery of Government priorities.
The Ministry’s key priorities over the next four years will focus on:
- Increasing Pacific Income and Wealth
- Building Pacific Leadership
- Strengthening Pacific Language, Culture and Identity
Minister for Pacific Peoples Hon Alfred Ngaro says the Ministry needs to be seen by government agencies, key partners and Pacific peoples as a centre of intelligence in what works for Pacific peoples.
“It must be a thought leader and above all, must be something that our people can be proud of. I am hugely impressed by the work the Ministry is doing, and I look forward to it continuing to broaden and deepen its role in the public sector. The strategic intentions set out in this document are a clear statement of how the Ministry intends to effect its vision for Pacific peoples in New Zealand.”
“All parts of the Ministry contribute to the outcomes we are seeking to achieve.”
One of the Ministry’s greatest strengths is their ability to link Pacific communities and networks to government and vice versa. The Ministry will continue to improve their business and organisational performance to ensure the government’s investment adds value to the people they serve.
The Ministry’s vision “Successful Pacific Peoples” places the community and its people at the heart of its work.
The Ministry’s planned work for the next four years sets out what they are seeking to achieve and how they plan to execute it. The Ministry is committed to making a difference for Pacific New Zealanders.
This Strategic Intentions 2017-2020 document sets out the Ministry's intentions for the following four years.
