Auckland Women’s Leadership Summit
A number of Ministry staff were part of a Summit held recently at the Sky City Convention Centre in Auckland, acting as a platform to build professional networks, develop leadership skills and gain strategies for personal and professional success.
The Women’s Leadership Summit brought together influential senior leaders, including Pacific representatives, to discuss and share experiences about leadership challenges, skills and strategies, and to share their inspirational stories and their insights into their leadership journeys.
Despite the lack of Pacific females in leadership roles, the Summit dialogue will assist many to build their leadership capability and aspire to move on to senior executive positions.
The female Ministry staff who participated found the Summit an exceptional platform for women to share their corporate journey and life experiences of overcoming challenges, and being in senior leadership positions.
There was also practical advice and guidance on other matters, such as work/life balance, career progression, and navigating career transitions.
Pacific speakers included Patricia Reade, Fepulea'i Margie Apa and Sina Wendt-Moore.
The Auckland Women’s Leadership Summit is an initiative of the Government Women’s Network and is supported by the State Services Commission and Auckland Council, to give visibility to the issues women face and the work opportunities available to them, including topics such as the gender pay gap and leadership development.
The event included women leaders from across all sectors, sharing their knowledge and unique leadership stories and experiences.
The event was hosted by New Zealand television presenter, and producer Miriamo Kamo.
